The Hegman Gauge

The Hegman Gauge

Part of our new growing quality control process that you will see/hear more about throughout next year

This instrument measures the fairness of grind or the presence of course particles in the paint

All our Professional Watercolours will go through this process and milled until they reach a maximum particle size of 10 microns or lower

Determining the fineness of a watercolour's grind is important, because too coarse a grind may reduce the paint's color uniformity, gloss, and opacity.
