Description

Golden Ochre (P.Y. 43) is a rich, earthy yellow pigment made from natural ochre. This warm and harmonious colour evokes the golden tones of sunlit fields, weathered stone, and natural earth, making it an ideal choice for landscape artists, portrait painters, and anyone drawn to natural tones.

With its perfect balance of yellow and brown, Golden Ochre brings depth and subtle warmth to compositions. It’s especially useful for capturing the atmosphere of golden hour lighting, autumn foliage, skin tones, and textured surfaces. As a semi-opaque pigment with medium granulation, it provides excellent coverage while delivering a soft, natural texture that enhances the organic feel of watercolour artworks.

This pigment handles beautifully on paper, whether used full-strength to produce a deep golden hue or diluted for lighter washes and highlights. Golden Ochre has good lightfastness, ensuring your artwork retains its rich warmth over time. It mixes effortlessly with other colours—combine it with reds and browns for rustic warmth, or with blues to create gentle, muted greens.

We Recommend

Use distilled water with all our watercolours to preserve each pigment’s clarity and performance.

Golden Ochre

Beautiful colour! Highly pigmented creamy paint. Great starting point for light skin tones when mixed with Vermillion and a bit of Dioxazine Violet.
