Description:

Mulberry Watercolour is a complex, deep shade that combines the richness of reds and blues with a subtle touch of green, giving it a mysterious, muted violet tone. The interplay of pigments creates a colour that is both dark and inviting, evoking the deep, velvety hues of mulberry fruit.

  • P.R 177 (Anthaquinoid Red) brings a soft, deep red undertone that is intense yet sophisticated, providing warmth to the colour blend.
  • P.B 29 (Ultramarine Blue) introduces a cool, granulating texture, contributing a rich blue that creates a sense of depth and shadow, perfect for adding dimension to the mixture.
  • P.G 7 (Phthalo Green) subtly influences the shade, cooling the overall tone and balancing the red and blue, creating a more nuanced and complex hue.

Mulberry's beautiful granulation and textural varies, especially where the pigments settle into the paper. The ultramarine's granulation is evident, providing a rustic, almost weathered look. This makes the colour highly effective for creating atmospheric effects in a painting, such as stormy skies, twilight scenes, or even abstract work where depth and richness are key.

Love this colour!

This a go-to colour for me. I use it to replace neutral tint. It plays nicely with other colours and lets them shine through, bringing a bit of brightness to the shadows. Use it full strength and it's enough for even the darkest darks.

Sumptuous colour

Love this colour and the richness, as always, of these pigments. Great for evening shadows, stormy skies and inner foliage.

Great paints

I tried the paints straight away at a painting holiday I have just tutored. They are lovely and creamy and the colours are excellent for my style. I have just ordered your granulating collection.
