Description

Wet Sand is a beautifully balanced, natural-looking brown made from a blend of Raw Umber (P.Br 7) and Yellow Iron Oxide (P.Y 42). This versatile watercolour captures the soft, muted tones of damp earth, coastal beaches, woodland paths, and windswept dunes. Designed for adaptability, it maintains a perfect neutrality—never too warm, never too cool—and responds well to temperature shifts with other pigments.

This semi-transparent colour can be easily adjusted: add yellows to bring warmth or blues to push it cooler or more grey. It offers a strong, grounded base for landscape work and is ideal for painting sandy textures, soil, shadows, bark, or background washes. With no granulation and a smooth flow, Wet Sand creates seamless transitions and naturalistic tones that suit both detailed and expressive techniques.

Lightfast and non-staining, Wet Sand retains its integrity in both diluted washes and full-strength applications. Its earthy, flexible character makes it a studio essential for artists seeking organic colour foundations, harmonious mixes, and subtle, realistic depth.

Perfect as I am on holiday by a beach....

Soggy Sand!

A little dark for wetland, requires high thinning

Basically raw umber?..

Lovely, rich, pigmented and smooth paint that lays beautifully, as with all Jackman's watercolours that I have. Not quite sure how 'sandy' it is, but it's a useful version of raw umber nonetheless.

New addition to my palette

I sure it will give my beach scenes a more realistic look

Wet Sand

This colour is very much like Raw Umber but punchier. (PBr7used as one of the pigments) It seems to granulate (although it's not mentioned on the tube) and is slightly more opaque. (semi transparent) It blends beautifully (as do the other colours I purchased) A useful colour for landscapes. It will certainly earn it's place in my palette and I'm looking forward to trying more of Jackman's paints😊
